How I have missed the mark

I woke up this morning with a desire to write a post on

how I have missed the mark and not realizing a desire to be true.
I had several bullet points on how I have missed the mark, but they all narrowed down to just one.  Not moving to the end..

I did not quite moving to the end and feeling it real.. Rather I had daydreams of performing a specific task that I would naturally do if the end was true.

Reminds me of the gangplank story Neville shared..

“The first time I tried, my attention wandered after I had reached the top of the gangplank. I brought myself back down, and tried again and again. I do not recall how many times I carried out this action in my imagination until I reached the deck and looked back at the port with the feeling of sweet sadness at departing.”

Takeaway:

  • Notice how walking up the gangplank was a middle.. as he noted “my attention wandered after I had reached the top of the gangplank”
  • Repeatedly missed the mark over and over before he found the feeling when looking back at the port.
